Julie Joyce Memorial Arts Scholarships

The Florida Keys Watercolor Society (FKWCS) is dedicated to fostering young artists’ passion and careers in the visual arts. To support this mission,  we participate in Career Day at local high schools, and award an education scholarship to a Florida Keys graduating high school senior pursuing higher education in the visual arts field.  

The 2026 Julie Joyce Memorial Arts Scholarship

In honor of our most beloved FKWCS member, Julie Joyce, we are offering the Julie Joyce Memorial Arts Scholarship in 2026. The Scholarship is awarded once a year to a senior high school student who appropriately submit an application form (see below) and fulfills all requirements.  The application process begins in January 2026.  Applications must be received by April 2026.  The FKWCS Board of Directors will review each application and the selected recipient will be notified by June 2026 and awarded during the graduation ceremony. 2025 FKWCS Scholarship Winner !

We are proud to announce Coral Shores High School graduate, Anya Stack of Key Largo, the recipient of the  2025 FKWCS Visual Arts Scholarship. She was awarded 1000.00$ to assist in her future educational journey in the visual arts. She plans to study the art history within the Arts, Humanities, Communication and Design Program at Miami Dade College, Florida.

What we are looking for in a Scholarship Recipient

We are looking for a senior high school student who is interested in pursuing further education in the field of visual arts.  This may include graphic design, fine arts, and photography. Our scholarship is based on merit and take into account factors such as a passion for creativity,  artistic talent,  and academic achievement.

Application Procedure

  1. Fill out the application form. You will find it below in the “Apply Now” button.  Download the application form, fill it out completely, and send via email to theFKWCS@gmail.com or send it via mail to 516 Avenida Primiceria, Marathon, Fl. 33050.
  2. A 250 word personal statement – a statement of dedication to  the ‘arts”, obtaining further degree, a description of your history as an artist, and your intention on how you will use the scholarship award.
  3. A letter of reference from a teacher at your high school, who is familar with your art work and academic performance.
  4. A letter of reference from an artist mentor/instructor (if applicable).
  5. Submit photos of at least three pieces of your art work.
  6. You may be required to participate in a phone interview with a member of the Board of Directors.
  7. The scholarship recipient agrees to  FKWCS posting the winner’s great news on social media such as Facebook and Instagram.

Your application packet MUST be received by the FKWCS by April 30th, 2026.
